Basic Baked Crackers
I am so excited about making my own baked crackers! So much less expensive and NO PLASTIC PACKAGING! Consider buying all these ingredients in bulk, if your local health food store supplies ingredients and paper bags! If not, consider buying bulk online for herbs and spices:
Frontier Coop or Sun Organic Farm for bulk for nuts, grains, spices, beans, flour etc.
Bulk Bucket Storage: Hudson Exchange 3.5 Gallon (3 Pack) Bucket Pail Container with Gamma Seal Lid, Food Grade BPA Free HDPE
(44 crackers)
Ingredients:
2 cup flour -1 cup gluten free flour and 1 cup almond Flour
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of black pepper
1 Tablespoon of dried rosemary
½ teaspoon of dried garlic
2 Tablespoons of olive oil
½ cup cold water
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 425 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a medium mixing bowl, mix together the flours, salt, pepper, rosemary, and garlic powder. Add oil and water, mix until a stiff dough forms.
Divide dough in half. Roll out one half to ⅛ thickness with a rolling pin. Using a small cookie cutter or lid of a spice jar works great (I used a 1-inch one) to cut your desired shapes. Repeat with the other half of the dough. Prick crackers all over with a fork and place on a prepared baking sheet.
Take scraps and keep rolling out and making circles.
Bake for about 15-20 minutes, until the bottoms are golden brown.
Note: You can also use other or dried fresh herbs or your choice!
